This is more of a 5 star rating to Amazon then the book. After all, it's a math book, what can be 5 star about it? My son needed this book fast. School had already started, he had been assigned homework, the book was out of stock in the schools bookstore. I tried other websites (shame on me) but could not get it here fast enough. What was I thinking? Amazon to the rescue!!! Ordered it, paid the $3.99 to have it delivered the next day (which was Saturday by the way) Woke up at 8am and found the book on our porch!!!! Thanks Amazon!!!!!!!!!!! I am a 34 year old student that has struggled with math my entire life. I have failed many math classes in college because I just did not clearly understand how to do the math problems. I enrolled at Harbor College in Willmington, CA this fall 2003 and purchased this required book. To my amazement, this book is written in a way that a dummie like me can easily learn all the lessons. I now have a class grade of 95 and FINALLY because of this book, I can do algebra word problems, and I understand how to check them. I am even tutoring some of my classmates, WOW! Thats not too bad for a dummie! I thank the author for creating the best prealgebra book I have ever seen. It is written STEP-BY-STEP and in the most basic format that can be explained. Please only purchase this book. You will not be dissapointed and you will pass prealgebra. All thanks to K. Elayn Martin-Gay, what a job you did putting the book together! Being a mathophobe, I was terrified when I registered for the class. But since I had to buy this book for my math class, then math all of a sudden was really easy! I actually understood the WORD problems with ease and what not!! The only thing that keeps me from giving it a 5 star rating is that there are many typos in the book, especially in chapter 6.2: there are at least three typos in this specific area if and when you are assigned the odd problems; and what's more, if you want a good laugh, check out pages 455-456. You'll see what I mean! This textbook is good, however, some sections were confusing. I did not always understand the way a problem was worked out in the textbook. My math instructor did not always teach according to the book and for that I am grateful. The author's CD is good and her instructions were clear and concise, but she walks you through select problems only. Not all problems given in the exercises were included in the instructions, so make sure you ask your professor how he or she teaches that particular section. January, 2009. I am an older student, Math as a prerequisite,[as my Math credits had expired] for an advanced Nursing degree. It's been YEARS since I've done any math over fractions, simple division, etc. I was terrified of even going to Algebra after all this time, so am taking a Pre-Algebra class [to get a solid foundation] and this was the book assigned for the course. This book has turned out to be a LIFESAVER!!takes you step by step thru each process, gives you the answers and explains how the problems are done in the back of the book. Plus this comes with a very helpful CD. Which explains problems on a blackboard, and if you need to go over things.just a click away!! I'm actually finding the class fun now [can't believe I'm saying that!!],as it's a challenge to try to figure problems out with the help of this book. I am also ordering the Pre-Algebra 5th Edition Student Study Pack which has another CD, a Student Solution Manual and an access code for the 'math center' on the interNet. Our college bookstore wanted $103.00 for a used copy.I bought my copy thru 'Abe's Books' for about $57.00 new -includes the CD. Get this Book, you won't be disappointed!! Update note: Sept. Got an 'A' in this class and the Prof. Was difficult.Couldn't have done it without this book!! I chose this book as a self-teaching refresher for the College Algebra class I am taking in the fall. My last algebra class was about 20 years ago, so I am definitely rusty. This text has been incredibly helpful. Chapters are well-organized with simple concept explanations and many practice problems, which are key if you are going to master the material. I now feel very confident that I have the skills necessary to hit the ground running in College Algebra. Gay boy tied spread eagle fucked pornography addiction. I would definitely recommend this book. This book has been a life-saver during my first year of teaching. Here's my basic summary of its myriad virtues: 1. The problems are beautifully authentic. They never try to take a basic concept and contrive a problem around it, like 'What is the absolute value of the temperature of Pluto?' (I have had this problem with the textbook for my lower course quite often.) 2. Each lesson is full of examples showing fully-worked problems, and in the margins are similar problems. So if you want to highlight a certain problem-solving technique, you can walk the kids through the example and then have them try it on their own right next to it, even writing in the book. Nothing corny. The images are helpful. No reference to manipulatives, but helpful diagrams in their place. There are also proofs of new ideas, often done informally through patterns. Pre Algebra Elayn Martin Gay Sixth Edition Online GameThese are used to show why a negative times a negative is a positive, etc. You can really get the kids talking about the concepts in a meaningful way. Tumblr monster gay cocks. One of my favorite things is to pull one of the few writing questions out of the problem set and use it as an opening question for the lesson. These provide great concepts for debate, like 'Why is this graph deceptive?' Or 'Why is this solution incorrect?' Sixth graders are at just the right age to play Sherlock and root out the fallacy, or engage in a good argument. Use this book! Pre Algebra Elayn Martin Gay Sixth Edition Online FreeIt will not disappoint! There are grrrrrreat! Just what I need and I passed my pre-algebra test.i really love the series. I can always go back and review, everything that I need to know. This will also make a great gift of someone who is having challenges with the math work.I am well please with the series. And I will take my time watching them, so that I will understand each algebraic problem. I give it 5 starts, Elayn Martin Gay explains each math problems very well and slowly where you can understand it. I am very pleased with the dvd-series. I was very happy to get this book so quickly; I was concerned that because the book was 'used' it might not have an intact access code. Once the code is activated it cannot be used by another student. I e-mailed the seller with my concerns and he immediately responded that the protective pocket holding the code was intact and from the looks of it the code was never accessed. I must admit that I was still a bit leary, this textbook was listed at school for $161.75 and I was about to pay $67.99. My textbook arrived quickly, you could tell that it had been in and out of a back pack a few times and the first two assignments in the book had pencil marks. (This didn't bother me as all the assignments are done online with the access code.) As promised the access code was intact! I found out when class started that quite a few students attempted to bypass the high prices in the college bookstore and ordered used books but soon found themselves with a 'previously accessed code' and a web site address for 'MyMathLab' where they could immediately download a code, for $79.00, all major credit cards accepted of course. This was to be used for an online homework assignment due the next class.
